Max penalty shows who rules roost

IT IS perhaps a reflection of how processional much of Formula One has become that online voters gave the Driver of the Day award at last Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix to Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Presumably, they were amused by the four-times world champion playing dodgems in an F1 car.

And it did make for compelling viewing, that is for sure.

But the remarkable developments in driver safety have made it too easy to forget Formula One is a hugely dangerous sport.
