Bernard Manning's comedy club set to be demolished for health centre

THE fate of Bernard Manning's legendary fag smoke-filled and beer-soaked comedy club is a joke he'd have loved - it is being replaced by a health centre.

Nearly 70 years since it opened in 1959, the club is about to close at the end of the month before the building - but not its history - is demolished.

Manning used to hold court at The World Famous Embassy Club, in Harpurhey, Greater Manchester, and perform regularly.
