PLANS to radically change how household electricity bills are set have been rejected by Labour.

A big chunk of what customers pay is are based on the wholesale price of electricity – what suppliers are charged - set nationally.

The Tory government looked at switching to “zonal” pricing instead, with prices differing by region and influenced by demand for power and where it comes from.
