Peter Andre takes inspiration from his father to play a pathologist in a new murder mystery series set in Athens

- WORDS: LAURA CARRENO-MÜLLER

By taking on the role of Dr George Constantinos, a Greek pathologist caught up in a mysterious death, pop star Peter Andre has revived a long-held passion. "I did acting as a kid first," he says. "Then I got signed up with the music and I took off with it.

For Peter, the decision to join 5's new murder mystery series, The Sunshine Murders, was immediate.

"The story was brilliant," he says. "I'm married to a doctor. You couldn't ask for anything better to make sure you get the correct terminology."

Originally hired for a single episode, his role expanded dramatically after his audition.

"I had to do my audition in my normal Australian accent. When I did the tape, I thought, 'Why don't I put on an accent?'"

Peter, 52, says. "I hadn't heard back immediately so I thought they didn't like it."
