Volunteer army helps stop rise in invasive insects

A MAJOR victory has been declared in the war against Asian hornets after plucky volunteers caused the number of queens to plummet.

Fears have been growing for many years that the invasive insects will use the Channel Islands as a launching pad to invade mainland Britain - with the public enlisted to help stop the spread.
