Howe tells his Toon they must learn how to mentally adjust after Champions League highs

EDDIE HOWE has warned his players they have to find a way to handle the comedown from a Champions League night when they return to Premier League action.

Newcastle were beaten twice by Fulham last season and Marco Silva's men will feel they have the edge over the Magpies when they meet today.

Howe knows the Cottagers are not to be underestimated and said: “You go back to last year, and it was two disappointing results against Fulham.

“We know the quality of their team. Marco has done a brilliant job there.

“These are difficult games for us. We felt that returning from the Champions League.

“You've always got the high emotion of a Champions League game, the energy those games bring you.

“Then you're back to the afternoon kickoff in the Premier League and it’s a big mental challenge for us. We have to rise to that and grow from the experiences weve had previously, but this will be a tough game”
