Results joy for thousands of pupils hit by Covid upheaval

PUPILS feared to have been worst hit by the pandemic restrictions have bounced back in their GCSEs with more top grades than last year.

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said youngsters who started secondary school in the Covidblighted year of 2020 had shown "remarkable resilience".

More than a fifth (21.9%) were awarded at least a 7 or an A, slightly up on last year's 21.8%.
