Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan tease what’s to come in the last ever season of Outlander

Period drama Outlander is ending and its star Caitriona Balfe is devastated to say goodbye to her much-loved character, Claire Fraser.

"She has changed my life," she says. "Just to be lucky enough to have played a character that means so much to people is pretty wild."

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s fantasy romance novels, the show follows Second World War army nurse Claire, who travels back in time through some standing stones in Scotland and finds herself 200 years in the past. While she has a husband named Frank (Tobias Menzies) waiting for her in the 20th century, she falls for a dashing Highlander named Jamie (Sam Heughan) and decides to stay in the past with him.
