PETER CROUCH assesses what lies ahead for the four clubs in the Premier League this season that he used to play for.

- BY FELIX KEITH

The Reds cantered home to the title by 10 points in Arne Slot's debut campaign, but Crouch says: "I think will be a lot closer this year.

Arsenal will close the gap, Chelsea, definitely, and Manchester City will be stronger, no doubt.

“I certainly don't think it'll be as easy as last year, but I still make them favourites.”

Liverpool begin their defence against Bournemouth tonight but are still adding to their squad.

A £26million deal for Parma defender Giovanni Leoni has been agreed while negotiations continue with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi.

“You can't read too much into preseason games, but there are gaps, certainly at centre-half," Crouch said.

“Guehi makes perfect sense.”
