Big George... a man you don't forget

I'LL never forget meeting George Foreman at ringside in Houston, Texas, in the late 1990s when I was working on TV out there.

He had seen me looking across. During a break, I went over a star-struck kid in his late thirties.

Foreman had recently retired and was also working as a pundit. He was brilliant at that, too. I approached saying, "Hi George, you don't know who I am," etc. Before I could say any more, he boomed: "Hey man, you kiddin' me? I know who you are. You're Barry Mcguigan. Howya doin?"

He'd obviously done his homework. It meant so much to me that he had taken the trouble to find out a bit about me.
