£2,000 water bills warning

WATER bills could rocket to £2,000 a year by 2050, industry regulator Ofwat warns.

It says “significant investment” needed to boost water sources, improve river quality, and to meet net zero aims will lead to a “steep increase” in spending for water companies - leading to even higher prices for households.

Ofwat reckons average bills could be at least £1,000 in 25 years from now - or around £2,000 after estimating the impact of inflation.
