Western province share of GDP at 42.4% in CY24 but rest share rose

The Western province added the most to the country’s total output, with a share of 42.4 percent in 2024 but its share came down from 44.0 percent in 2023, while the combined share of the other provinces rose, in a reflection that they are gradually adding more to the total economy.

For instance, the North Western province, which had a share of 11.5 percent, became the second after the Western province and grew from the 10.9 percent share it had in 2023.

The Central province’s share to GDP rose to 10.7 percent, from 10.0 percent in 2023.

Most other provinces too, with the exception of the North Central and Southern provinces, increased their contribution to GDP than in 2023.
