A Heartfelt Comedy with a Powerful Message

- By Yashmitha Skitheran

Tourist Family is a 2025 Tamil-language comedy drama directed by debutant Abishan Jeeevinth. Produced by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment, this heartwarming film tells the poignant yet humorous story of a Sri Lankan Tamil family starting a new life in India in the wake of Sri Lanka's recent economic crisis. Blending comedy, emotion, and a strong social message, Tourist Family appeals to audiences of all ages.

At the centre of the story is Dharmadas, a Tamil man from Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Faced with growing economic and political instability in his homeland, he makes the difficult decision to move his family to India in search of safety and stability. This courageous choice marks the beginning of a journey filled with cultural challenges, emotional upheavals, and plenty of comical mishaps. As Dharmadas and his family attempt to adjust to their new environment, they encounter both the kindness of strangers and the occasional misunderstandings that come with adapting to a new culture.
