Dr. Nirmala M. Pieris, a scientist by profession and storyteller by passion, announces the launch of her publication The Abeyesundere Family of Galle, the first in-depth account of the Abeyesundere family's rich and enduring history. The official book launch will take place on 14 November 2025 at the Auditorium of the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo.

- Dr. Nirmala M. Pieris

This meticulously researched volume traces the origins and evolution of the Abeyesundere family, whose roots lie in the quiet village of Kumbalwella in the Galle District. At its heart is Pemyano William Abeyesundere, a respected ship chandler, landowner, and devout Roman Catholic, remembered for his philanthropy and civic leadership that made him a pillar of the Galle community.
