We spend our lives in this city, rushing from home to work and back again.

HOW TO BE A TOURIST IN YOUR OWN CITY FOR A DAY

We complain about the traffic, the heat and the noise. But what if we just... stopped? What if we put on a different hat for a single day, the hat of a tourist and saw Colombo through fresh, curious eyes? You might be surprised by what you find.

Curated City Tours

I found two cool curated city tours conducted by Colombo City Walks. The Dodgy bar tour of Colombo and the Foodie tour. They both seemed super interesting. The first is their 'Dodgy bar tour of Colombo'. This tour promises a boozy, hilarious walk through some of Fort's most character-filled, unique, historic bars. It sounds like the perfect way to see a totally different side of the city. The other is their 'Foodie Tour', a journey that dives into the cross-cultural influences that make Sri Lankan food so incredible. Think everything from a quick thambili on the street to a shot, exploring the flavours of Malay, Indian, and Portuguese communities. If you're looking for a way to break out of your usual routine and truly experience Colombo, these two curated tours seem like an absolute blast.
