The Department of Sports Development has taken steps to revive the long-delayed Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) election process by appointing a new five-member election committee, following the postponement of the polls by the Ministry of Sports.

The newly appointed committee will be chaired by retired Court of Appeal Judge Lalith U. Jayasuriya while the other members are retired High Court Judge DA Ruwan Pathirana, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Sports Sumith Shantha, retired Additional Secretary Buddhika Weragoda, and retired Deputy Director (Planning) of the Ministry of Sports, Deepal Liyanarachchi.
