USBus mobile American Space begins nationwide journey across Sri Lanka
June 04, 2025
|Daily FT
ON 30 May, Sarvodaya Fusion, with support from the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, launched USBus — a mobile American Space initiative aimed at expanding access to educational and cultural resources across the country.
-
The program began its journey at the University of Kelaniya and will travel throughout Sri Lanka over the next 18 months. Designed to engage youth, the USBus brings free American innovation, learning opportunities, and outreach directly to communities. The inaugural event featured the esteemed presence of US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie J. Chung, UGC Chairman Senior Professor Kapila Seneviratne, University of Kelaniya Vice Chancellor Senior Professor Nilanthi Renuka De Silva, Lanka Jathika Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement President Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, and Sarvodaya Fusion Chairman Professor Rohan Samarajiva. The USBus builds on the US Embassy's American Spaces network—dynamic hubs in Colombo, Kandy, Jaffna, Matara, and Batticaloa—by bringing the same spirit of learning, innovation, and exchange to underserved areas across Sri Lanka.
