T20 World Cup squad to play series against England

Pakistan T20I series to be used to finalise squad DDS to solve Sri Lanka's fifth bowler problem?

WITH the T20 World Cup barely six weeks away, Sri Lanka’s preparations have certainly intensified with the provisional squad of 25 players hard at practice to iron out the deficiencies that have prevented them from performing consistently in this format.

“During the T20I series against Pakistan we will be looking at two or three back up players in batting and bowling. Once we clear that, we will announce the final 15 players for the T20 World Cup. This squad will play in the 3-match T20I series against England,” said chief selector Pramodya Wickramasinghe.

“To prepare a strong reserve bench for the T20I squad, we are trying out a few players during the Pakistan series. From this series we will get an idea whom we should pick as backups who can replace any player in the 11.”
