William: NHS workers should have almost an enforced career break
March 06, 2025
|Daily Express
THE Prince of Wales suggested NHS staff should have “almost an enforced break” in their careers to help mental health.
William visited the Oasis Health and Wellbeing Centre and garden at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, which five years ago yesterday recorded the first person to die after testing positive for coronavirus.
The meeting was held to hear how health workers coped with the Covid outbreak.
He chatted to staff from the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust who were on the front line during the pandemic, and listened as one senior nurse became emotional when explaining he did not visit his elderly parents in Italy for two years to protect them.
