SARINA WIEGMAN and her England players have cemented their status as living legends of women's football.
But will the legacy from the Lionesses' success become an everlasting one? After England's Euro 2022 win against Germany at Wembley, women's football in this country changed dramatically. A sport that was once mocked and derided gained respect and status.
A nation that had spent more than half a century watching the men fail to bring it home, stood in admiration for the women, who secured a first major trophy for a senior team since 1966. The triumph was one that shot women’s football into the spotlight.
