Lapping up the hottest day of 2024...before storms roll in

THE nation threw itself into summer on what was the hottest yesterday day of the year at 32C.

Across the country, bathers flocked to beaches and lidos to cool off while sunseekers caught the rays in parks.

Beaches at Brighton and Weymouth became seas of people and parasols as families in England enjoyed the first full week of the school summer holidays. Londoners who faced that sultry 32C at Heathrow and Kew Gardens - sought relief by pools in the City while youngsters in Worcester cooled off in a splash pool.
