Queen in stitches as island's finest brighten up blustery visit

- Emily Ferguson

We are amoo-sed

HOW dairy? One member of a prize Jersey herd mounts another in front of the Queen yesterday giving Camilla a right royal laugh.

The King and Queen, on their first visit to the Channel island since Charles's accession, were presented with a gift of seven milking heifers.

And, just as the Queen started to stroke one of the cows, another tried to mount it.

Her Majesty, wearing a sky-blue shirt dress by Anna Valentine, held up her hands and laughed heartily at the amorous display.

imageShe later said of the cattle: "They are so charming." Delighted Charles, 75, and Camilla, 76, were visiting the Jersey Expo at Weighbridge Place, which was showcasing the best that the Channel island has to offer.

Earlier the King said he was delighted to return to the "beautiful, unique" place that had held such "high regard and affection" for his late mother Queen Elizabeth II.
