Warning that jobless surge will get worse

SOARING unemployment will get worse as businesses reel at the Chancellor’s “jobs tax”, Rachel Reeves has been warned.

The jobless rate hit its highest level for nearly four years while vacancies fell by 63,000 between March and May to 736,000, the lowest since April 2021.

Shadow Business Secretary Andrew Griffith said that “things are about to get even worse” with the overhaul of workers’ rights. He said: “Labour have to think again.
