BLUE PLAQUES FOR RAF HEROES

- By Jeremy Armstrong

TWO brothers have been honoured in their home village 85 years after they fought in the Battle of Britain.

Former Daily Express reporter Hugh Dundas and brother John joined the Royal Auxiliary Air Force in 1938, aged 18 and 23 respectively.

They became Spitfire pilots, serving their country with distinction.

John was killed in 1940 off the Isle of Wight, aged 25, after shooting down the enemy’s “Nol air ace”.

Hugh went on to carve a distinguished career in journalism and broadcasting, working for the Daily Express as air correspondent and becoming chairman of Thames Television.
