Veteran, 100, to receive France's highest honour

Legion d'honneur for D-Day's Dougie
A SECOND World War veteran given more than 16,000 cards for his 100th birthday will now also receive France's highest honour.
Dougie Shelley joined the Royal Navy at 17 and was a gunner on destroyer HMS Milne on D-Day.
He had previously mentioned to his carer Paul Bennett that he thought he should receive the French Legion d'honneur medal.
Paul, 77, said: "A lot of his shipmates ... were awarded this medal for service to France."
