US plays its Trump card for lost nation

THERE is something almost comforting about the Western hard-left's ability to be so consistently inconsistent.

You can always rely on them to turn up late, shout loudly, and miss the point entirely.

Take the sudden outbreak of street protests over Donald Trump apprehending Nicolas Maduro. Placards out. Megaphones blazing. Moral outrage dialled up to eleven. Apparently, now they've discovered that forcibly removing a head of state is "problematic".

Funny thing is, I don't remember seeing these same people outside the Venezuelan embassy in London when Maduro flat-out refused to step down after losing an election. No marches then. No chants. No Twitter threads about "defending democracy" - just silence.

Where were they when Venezuela collapsed? When one of the richest countries in Latin America was reduced to breadlines, blackouts and mass emigration?
