'Until Kemi repudiates the modernisers' agenda I don't think the Tory party has got much future'

THE Conservative Party may be heading for oblivion under the leadership of Kemi Badenoch, according to former Prime Minister Liz Truss.

'Until Kemi repudiates the modernisers' agenda I don't think the Tory party has got much future'

Asked whether she believed Mrs Badenoch could become Prime Minister, she said: "At present there are still too many people involved in the Conservative Party, the so-called modernisers...until she repudiates that agenda I don't think the Conservative Party has got much future."

She also claimed the party had been dominated by a Left-wing "Blairite" agenda since David Cameron became leader with a plan to "modernise" the Tories back in 2005.

Powerful

Speaking to the Daily Expresso news show, she said Britain should follow the example of the United States, where Donald Trump's "revolution" had protected free speech, controlled immigration and fought to end "net zero" policies.

But Britain is governed by Left-wing “incompetent technocrats” determined to block change, she said, while the democratically-elected government has little real power.

"People think the Prime Minister is all-powerful or the Chancellor is all-powerful, and they can go in to government and just pull the levers and things will happen," she added.

"But actually, the government is controlled by the permanent bureaucracy, by the Civil Service.
