Third Russian military chief killed in car bomb

A RUSSIAN general has been “murdered” in a suspected Ukrainian car bomb attack.

Lt Gen Fanil Sarvarov, 56, died yesterday after an explosive device detonated beneath his vehicle in Moscow.

Investigators said Kyiv could be behind the attack, the third such killing of a senior military officer in the capital in a year.

Lt Gen Sarvarov — head of the Russian General Staff’s operational training directorate — died from his injuries, said Svetlana Petrenko, spokesperson for the Russian Investigative Committee.
