'The Beatles didn't split up over Yoko'

JOHN Lennon's wife Yoko Ono was not a factor in The Beatles' demise despite being blamed for decades for the band's breakup, it is claimed.

One of the world's leading chroniclers of the legends says Yoko has been unfairly painted as a “villain” over the years.

Martin Lewis, who has worked with both Sir Paul McCartney and Yoko in recent years, said: “The fans wanted a villain. The media likes a villain. We all do. That’s natural, but it’s not reality.”

Yoko’s attendance at the 1969 Abbey Road album recording sessions with the Fab Four is known in music folklore as causing major tension between John Lennon and McCartney.
