Former leukaemia sufferer returns to help as a driver

FOR the 31st year, a convoy of 97 taxis carrying children with life-limiting illnesses and their families is heading to Disneyland Paris from Canary Wharf for a weekend away.

The Magical Taxi Tour has given more than 5,000 sick and terminally ill children the trip of a lifetime and the chance to be kids again.

One of them is Rachael Owens, 33. At just seven, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, marking her childhood with years of treatment and time out of school.

A year later, in 2000, she was taken to Disneyland by a driver who would become her stepdad. She told the Daily Express: “It was just an amazing experience.
