Tax ruling may lead to higher prices for hair loss treatments

BALDNESS treatment costs could soar 20% after a £2.5million tax case involving a Harley Street clinic.

The Farjo Hair Institute’s high-profile clients have included Dragons’ Den star Duncan Bannatyne.

It claims it is exempt from VAT because it offers medical care.

But HM Revenue & Customs argued treatments were for “aesthetic” purposes and therefore liable.

A tax tribunal ruled among 10 men treated in 2021, the transplants were “purely cosmetic” and not exempt.
