DOMINIC Raab last night said talks about curbing the European Convention on Human Rights' secretive last-minute blocking orders had been "positive".

Talks over ECHR were 'positive', says Raab

The convention has been blamed for frustrating efforts to send asylum seekers to Rwanda and the Justice Secretary warned European judges that Britain is willing to leave.

Mr Raab, who is leading talks in Strasbourg, assured European judges that "we will do everything we can to remain" in the ECHR.

But amid fury over the grounding of the first flight to Rwanda, he told senior judges: "We've got to deal with this issue."
