'Super soup' maker seeks £3m to expand

THE maker of a broccoli "super soup" that is scientifically proven to cut the risk of type 2 diabetes is seeking £3million to double sales this year and expand its range.

SmarterNaturally's instant soup uses a special variety of the veg called GRextra which has been bred following years of research from a type discovered growing wild in Sicily.

Its unusually high levels of glucoraphanin have been shown by scientists to lower blood sugar levels.

But it is also thought to help other age-related diseases as well as deliver boost to sports performance ance although those benefits have yet to be put through clinical trials.

SmarterNaturally is looking to raise the cash from investors to recruit more farmers - including in Europe to grow the patented GRextra broccoli year-round.
