Sick Pope has kidney failure

POPE Francis asked Catholics around the world to pray for him yesterday as blood tests showed he had early kidney failure.
The Vatican said the 88-year-old remained alert as he continued to battle pneumonia and a complex lung infection in hospital.
The decreased blood platelet count detected on Saturday was stable and, while doctors identified "initial, mild, kidney failure", they said it was under control.
