RACING is in shock at the leath of apprentice jockey Tommie Jakes, at just 19, at his family home near Newmarket in the early hours of yesterday.

The 5lb claimer, right, who gained his first victory aboard the Chapple-Hyamtrained Suzi's Connoisseur at Lingfield Park in March 2023, rode a total of 59 winners from 519 rides.
