NHS waiting lists drop to a three-year low

THE NHS waiting list for hospital treatment has fallen to its lowest level since early 2023, figures show.

Some 6.17 million patients were waiting for 7.31 million planned hospital treatments at the end of November, down from 6.24 million waiting for 7.40 million procedures or appointments a month earlier.

It means the waiting list is now at its lowest level since February 2023, when the figure was 7.22 million.

NHS chiefs celebrated the biggest monthly drop in waiting lists outside the pandemic for 15 years.
