Mums' outrage over 30-year wait for knife crime justice

TWO mothers whose sons were stabbed to death have vented their fury at the Metropolitan Police and London mayor Sadiq Khan after waiting a combined three decades for justice.

- BY ADAM TOMS Senior Reporter

It has been 21 years since 17-year-old Karl Hamilton was murdered but no one has yet been punished, which is an agony for his mum Kim Williams.

Karl was knifed to death in 2004 by a group of around 15 people in Hackney, suffering wounds to his head, torso and left thigh.

Kim, 62, said she does not receive updates from the police but claimed that officers have a voice statement from a man who named himself and two others as perpetrators.

She told the Daily Express: “It’s horrible. The two occasions when I’ve had the case reopened, it has been myself who contacted the police.”

Kim believes it is still too easy for people to get hold of a blade and says shops should not sell them to under-25s.

She told Sir Sadiq and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who has promised to work with the mayor to tackle knife crime: “Stop talking - let’s see some action.”
