Motorists panic over fuel rises as supply route hit by conflict

HUGE queues have been spotted at petrol stations across the UK after motorists were warned about rising fuel prices and some pumps ran dry.

The lines come after oil prices surged by 13% on Monday amid the conflict in the Middle East.
Iran has launched retaliatory attacks, disrupting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz - a key route that carries around 20% of the world's oil and gas supplies.
More than 200 ships have been anchored outside the strait following attacks in Gulf waters, heightening concerns about the potential impact on UK prices.
Donald Trump last night promised the US Navy would escort tankers through the strait "if necessary".
