SCRUM-HALF INSPIRES KIDS AT NORTHAMPTON
ENGLAND star Alex Mitchell has done more than reach a World Cup semi-final this season he has also inspired Northampton to reach the top of the Premiership.
So says coach Sam Vesty as Saints start a new year in pole position for the first time since they champions defending in 2015.
Mitchell is the scrum-half who was originally left out by Steve Borthwick, but then got a second chance due to injury and made the shirt his own in France.
Two months on and it was his try on Saturday that set Northampton up for a victory over Sale which put them top.
Vesty has no doubt the 26-year-old's example has inspired the Premiership's youngest side.
were "When the others see Alex it's not a case of, 'If he can do it, anyone can'," said Vesty.
