Jurors to get counselling for traumatic court cases

JURORS sitting on traumatic court cases are to be offered round-theclock support to help deal with the aftermath of horrific details in trials.

In a pilot scheme, jurors in 14 Crown Courts across the country will be able to refer themselves for six free counselling sessions, as well as access to a 24/7 helpline for support and advice.

Courts taking part in the test scheme include The Old Bailey in London, and Crown Courts in Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol and Teesside.
