It's a fare cop in Brighton

ONE good thing about our street’s WhatsApp group is its traffic warden alert system.

If anyone spots a warden coming down the street, they'll post an alert to the rest of the group.

A notification then pops up on each member's phone, provided the phone is set up for that.

As it happens, mine isn’t. I switched off notifications from our street’s WhatsApp group some time ago, on the basis that our street’s WhatsApp group was driving me nuts.

That, and because, whenever I received one of their traffic warden alerts, I'd respond with something like: “Thanks for the warning, I'll get the water cannon primed,” which no one seemed to find very amusing, the miserable blighters.
