'I wouldn't return £200k BBC wages if I was Huw'

HUW Edwards' publicist says he would not give back the £200,000 the disgraced newsreader was paid while suspended, were he in his shoes.

Edwards was suspended by the BBC in July 2023 after allegations of sexual misconduct emerged. He continued to be paid until he resigned in April 2024, by which time he had banked around £200,000 for no work.

And though in July 2024, Edwards pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, publicist Barry Tomes said yesterday he would keep the wages if he were Edwards.

Mr Tomes was appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain, to react to the previous night's Channel 5 drama Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards.
