England hopes in ruins after their campaign hits a new low
THE curtain was brought down on England's golden generation of ODI cricket with yet another horror show- perhaps their worst of the lot in this World Cup.
A fourth loss of the tournament, this time to their World Cup bogey side, Sri Lanka, put their hopes of a semi-final berth in the bin, although mathematically they will have to wait a little longer for confirmation.
In reality, they are done emotionally, philosophically and in any cricketing sense after losing to Sri Lanka by eight wickets in a thrashing masterminded by former coach Chris Silverwood.
Having bowled England out for a paltry 156 in just 33.2 overs, Sri Lanka overhauled the target with more than 24 overs to spare.
