EDDIE EMBRACING THE IDEA SQUAD CAN END LONG WAIT FOR GLORY
EDDIE HOWE is the 29th permanent Newcastle manager who has tried to win a domestic trophy in the past 70 years.
All have failed - the 1955 FA Cup win is the club's most recent major English honour.
There are no surviving players and any fan who remembers it is deep into old age.
The Geordies have not won silverware since the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup on June 11, 1969.
To give that historical context, Neil the following month Armstrong walked on the moon.
Is turning Newcastle into winners a mission impossible? "I always like to think impossible is possible, especially with my players," said head coach Howe.
