Hosepipe ban fears after driest spring for 69 years

BRITAIN’S dry spring could cause hosepipe bans this summer, households have been warned.

Water restrictions in large chunks of the country are expected after an unusually rain-free March and April left supplies scarce.

One senior source at the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs told the Express bans are “almost inevitable”.

The Environment Agency has said the risk of bans is “medium” without prolonged rainfall.
