Hope for abuse victims in new boundary protections

A DOMESTIC abuse survivor has said she hopes bold new proposals to restrict where perpetrators are able to go are not “just pillow talk”.

- By Anahita Hossein-Pour

Ministers want to bring in “restriction zones” to stop sexual and violent offenders — tracked with technology - from entering certain areas.

Breaches of the rules would lead to jail time.

It is thought this would allow survivors to go about their daily lives without fear of seeing attackers.

Until now, exclusion zones have existed to prevent a perpetrator from going to the area where their victim lives.

Mother-of-two and survivor Leanne said she is “ecstatic” about the proposals, adding: “I hope change is actually going to happen, and it’s not just pillow talk, but if it happens, then it’s a long time coming.”
