Slot lands Isak for British record £125m, but Guehi deal collapses
LIVERPOOL last night took their spending this summer to more than £450million as they landed Alexander Isak - but they missed out on Marc Guehi on a dramatic deadline day.
The Reds finally brokered a British record £125m deal to sign striker Isak from Newcastle, which will delight head coach Arne Slot, left.
But despite a deal sheet being submitted with the Premier League for Guehi, a £35m move for the Crystal Palace centre-back collapsed at the 11th hour. Palace pulled the plug on Guehi's move despite the defender undergoing a medical.
The South London club had lined up Brighton defender Igor Julio as Guehi's replacement, but he opted to join West Ham on loan instead.
