Connor is London's youngest black cab driver at age 21

CONNOR Dill had a double celebration as he turned 21 on the day he became the youngest black-cab driver on London's streets.

Connor got his badge at a ceremony on his 21st birthday, after two years of studying hard every day while working as a lift engineer.

He had to master The Knowledge of London — known as The Knowledge — in which wannabe taxi drivers must memorise thousands of streets and landmarks, or Points, within a six-mile radius of Charing Cross so they know the quickest routes through the capital.

Applications to start The Knowledge shot up 68.6% from 2022 to November 2025, but it is not for the fainthearted.

The tough test typically takes three to four years and involves learning the 320 routes, known as “runs”, listed in the Blue Book, plus every Point within a quarter mile of the start and end of each route. But Connor from Bromley, South East London, did it in two years.
