Help for our high street heroes can boost Britain

EMI Badenoch should be applauded for backing our Save Our High Streets campaign and unveiling plans to scrap business rates for thousands of shops, while bringing down electricity bills and recruiting extra police.

Nothing less than the survival of our high streets and town centres is at stake. They face ferocious online competition, soaring shoplifting rates and severe cost pressures. As the Conservative leader put it: “Labour is battering business. It can’t continue.”
