Hard-hit high street shops fear a Boxing Day sales flop

SHOPPERS hunting Boxing Day bargains stayed away from the nation's high streets as customer numbers fell.
Retail parks bucked the trend with a 6.9% increase in shoppers compared with December 26 last year.
However, that wasn't enough to compensate for a huge lack of demand elsewhere. Overall footfall was down 0.3% on last year in a blow to struggling retailers.
